A little Taylor Swift, a little Michael Jackson, even a little YMCA – add in some yummy treats, nail painting and LOTS of fabulous volunteers – it’s the KidsTLC Spring Dance! Last week all our kids enjoyed the generosity and dedication of community and campus volunteers who gave their time and resources to make a special night for all!
The night began with a little “girl time”, nail painting in the rec room. Not only was the room filled with the smell of nail polish but more importantly the gentle touch of volunteers hands carefully holding the hands of young girls looking for self-esteem, self-worth and value. Each young lady proudly walked around showing off their chosen color and a BIG smile! As the dance began, first stop was of course all the yummy treats but then it was onto the dance floor – some more eager than others but each finding their rhythm. As the last song was played, the chairs were stacked and the floor was swept – the only traces of the night were found in the hearts and minds of kids who left their trauma and pain behind, even just for one special night.
