Intensive Outpatient Services at the Lotus Clinics
KidsTLC’s evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for children and families experiencing greater difficulties than traditional outpatient services can provide. The purpose of this program is to keep families together and prevent out-of-home care. The focus of this program is to improve relational abilities that will improve family, school, and community life. The format focuses on group activities and skills but includes individual support for the child as well as family therapy and parenting education and support groups.
Hours:
- Regular hours: Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Parent CARES session (available in person or via Teams): Wednesday, 5:00 p.m.
Program Overview
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), offered through the Lotus Clinics at KidsTLC, is group-based therapy built on the intention of developing important connections. It is an effective alternative to traditional outpatient therapy or residential care and is highly recommended by parents, youth, counselors and other providers. It is unique in providing an array of services in a short period of time. IOP offers crucial support you and families need in order for youth to remain in, or successfully transition back into, the community. Core components include:
- Therapeutic and psychoeducational groups
- Opportunities for recreational and expressive activities
- Experiential therapy practices
- Parent education and support groups

Our IOP is structured and designed for children, ages 6 through 17, who are ready for a group environment. They exhibit psychiatric symptoms and significant impairment in day-to-day educational, social and interpersonal functioning. They are often sensitive to their environment and have challenges with appropriate interactions and behaviors.
This unique program offers a much-needed intermediate level of care, serving as a bridge between inpatient hospitalization or PRTF and a traditional outpatient office setting. The significant time commitment from both child (daily) and parent (Wednesdays), helps promote the most beneficial outcomes.
Because parents and guardians also benefit from participating in the therapeutic process, IOP partners with KidsTLC’s CARES Program. These sessions will help equip families with the tools they need to promote their child’s continuing success in their home environment. This REQUIRED gathering takes place every Wednesday 5-6:00 p.m. (hybrid: online via Teams or in person).
Kansas Medicaid is the most common form of payment for IOP. Private pay is available. No private insurance is currently accepted.
