“1-2-3 Girls on the Run is so much fun!!” That’s what you could hear last night around 6pm coming from the gym as we kicked off another season of growing self-esteem, instilling pride and validating self-worth in the girls at KidsTLC! Girls on the Run volunteer coaches will provide 10 weeks of curriculum and activities culminating with a 5K run at Arrowhead in November. This season we have a few girls that were with us for the Spring season and look forward to serving as role models for new girls in the program this season. Part of last night’s activities included a visualization of letting in positive messages and closing the outlet that let’s in negative messages like “I can’t” or “I’m not good enough”. The girls made a promise that during Girls on the Run sessions they will be practicing the act of sending positive messages to themselves and others around them. As we began running our laps around the gym, some walked, some ran, a few even crawled, but everyone kept moving! Kids, staff and coaches shared conversation, laughter and cheers of encouragement- KidsTLC’s courageous girls are off to another great Girls on the Run season!
