A snapshot of our exciting internship opportunities

Master’s level Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)

  • KidsTLC’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) provides intensive residential treatment to children, ages 6–18, who have emotional, behavioral and relational challenges that make it difficult for them to succeed in the community. We offer a safe and therapeutic environment where children and adolescents can identify and regulate complex thoughts and emotions, enhancing healthier relationships. This experience helps youth transform negative, adaptive expressions into positive ones. To do this, our staff utilize innovative and evidence-based practices as its foundational core to help children and teens form secure bonds of attachment with those around them, including parents and other caregivers. This hands-on internship offers a chance to contribute to life-changing work, helping youth heal and grow.

Plus, you’ll join key meetings such as transition, plan of care, and team meetings. This immersive experience offers you an inside look at intensive mental health care, preparing you for a future in the field. Typical hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, giving you plenty of time to dive deep into this rewarding work!

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at the Lotus Clinics of KidsTLC

  • The dynamic IOP team at the Lotus Clinics of KidsTLC are at the heart of group-based therapy designed to foster meaningful connections. The IOP serves as a critical bridge between traditional outpatient care and residential services, offering interns a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a diverse therapeutic setting. As an intern, you’ll work closely with a therapist leading a group of youth, and engage in clinical rounds, therapeutic and psychoeducational groups, recreation, expressive activities, and parent education. You’ll also take part in case management and, where applicable, independent and co-therapy. This immersive role provides an unparalleled opportunity to grow professionally while making a real impact. Intern hours are typically Monday-Thursday, from early afternoon until early evening (1–7 p.m.), giving you plenty of time to fully experience this rewarding work.

Thrive Planned Respite Program

  • Join KidsTLC’s Thrive Program as a Respite Care Facilitator intern, where you’ll provide therapeutic weekend breaks for children (ages 6-15) and their caregivers. Thrive strengthens family resilience by reducing hospitalizations, placement disruptions, and caregiver burnout. As an intern, you’ll coordinate and care for up to 10 clients each weekend (Friday 4 p.m. to Saturday 4 p.m.), ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met. You’ll follow established plans and create engaging activities to promote development and growth, making a meaningful impact while gaining hands-on experience in family support and therapeutic care.
