The
Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center provides crisis intervention and
assessment 24 hours a day to children in need of care and to juvenile
offenders - as well as their families - who come into contact with Johnson
County law enforcement. Youths taken into custody by law enforcement are
referred to services which can address any areas of concern identified,
and placement into a shelter or foster care may be made for juvenile victims
of abuse or neglect. Strengths-based case management is available for
truant youth and their families with an emphasis on family and peer relations
as well as school, employment, supervised recreation and community involvement.
Mission:
The
JIAC program shall work toward improving the ability of juveniles to live
more productively and responsibly within their community, enhance public
safety, ensure the delivery of services to juveniles and enforce juvenile
accountability. JIAC staff will actively work with all juveniles
and parents referred to JIAC, citizens, elected and appointed officials,
all law enforcement personnel and other social welfare and community based
agencies to meet the best interests of the juvenile and the communities
of Johnson County . We will concentrate our efforts on the best
interest of the youth, public safety and preservation of the family.
Vision:
To
provide an all inclusive juvenile services program to youth and families
through preventive programs, intervention programs and graduated sanctions
programs.
