TLC's
5th Annual Hoops event was a huge success! Following the first Hoops
for Kids fundraiser, one of the committee members predicted that this
event would be “over the top” in a few short years. With your help we
reached that expectation this year!
Twenty-eight businesses, led by Olathe Medical Center and Farmers
Insurance, stepped forward with financial and/or in-kind support.
This allowed us to raise over $46,000—all from a FREE quality family
event open to everyone!
Other businesses and individuals donated or purchased auction items,
registered 3-on-3 teams, bought concessions and souvenirs and volunteered
their time.
On
June 9, the Cook Center at MidAmerica Nazarene University rocked!
Over 125 boys and girls, representing 28 teams, participated in
the 3-on-3 Youth Tournament.
Dozens of the younger set enjoyed games, an inflatable obstacle
course and posing with K.U. Mascot Baby Jay during a fun-filled
mini-carnival.
New this year—H.S. All-Star Athletes (both boys and girls) from
Kansas and Missouri faced off in entertaining and competitive games.
The Main Event featured 18 past and current professional basketball
players who showcased their dribbling, dunking and shooting skills
for enthusiastic fans. They also signed autographs and had their
pictures taken with jersey winners.
A silent auction, including sports memorabilia and golf packages,
rounded out the event.
Thanks
to all who participated in any way to
make this a successful event!
