Extreme
Makeover: The TLC addition!
A few weeks ago
the Jacobo family from Kansas City, Missouri moved into their new
five thousand square foot home constructed by the crew of
ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. All twelve
family members had been crowded into a nine hundred square foot
house. The word the family used to describe their new home was
AWESOME!
If you drive by
TLC's campus this spring, you will see some awesome changes taking
place there too! With the completion of our 10.7 million dollar
capital campaign, construction is well under way. Our expanded Mabee
Family Center will be completed by mid-June. Our new 24,000 square
foot residential treatment center will be finished in December, and
the new recreation, kitchen and dining building will conclude the
construction in late 2008.
Using the
Jacobo's description, our campus will be awesome!
More importantly, our youth will have access to needed
services in their own community. The expansion from 30 to 92 beds
for residential and transitional living will offer opportunities for
youth where none have been available before. Our expanded training
room will provide adequate space to train foster parents desperately
needed in our community.
Yes, this is
simply awesome! It is also awesome that our community understood the
great need and worked to make the dream a reality. Come by and see
us!
Warmest
personal regards,

SHINING STARS...
Recognizing Special
Volunteers
This
month we would like to recognize a special volunteer who helped to
make the Easter holiday much brighter for TLC youth. Amanda
Schroeder generously offered to make Easter baskets for girls living
in TLC's residential shelters. She delivered baskets full of candy,
personal hygiene items, pens, paper and other fun items. The baskets
also included a personal note to each girl. What a special Easter
many TLC girls were able to have thanks to the kindness of Amanda!
Thank you!
